"The Battle of Moscow was the first strategic defeat for Nazi Germany in World War II. The Kazakh warriors covered themselves with unfading glory in the battle for Moscow, says Sauap.org.
By the fall of 1941, fascist German troops, having numerical superiority in military equipment and tactics, occupied the Baltic states, Belarus, Moldova and part of Ukraine, blockaded Leningrad and Crimea. The danger looming over the country increased. The German headquarters completed preparations for Operation Typhoon to capture Moscow before the onset of winter.
The powerful German offensive of Army Group Center began on September 30, the attack was carried out bypassing Moscow from the north and south while simultaneously advancing large forces from the west. More than 25 enemy divisions took part in these greatest battles, including 23 tank and motorized divisions. On November 15, a “general” offensive against Moscow began. One of the first Kazakh formations to engage the enemy was the 312th Infantry Division, commanded by Colonel (later Major General) A.F. Naumov. This division was formed in Aktyubinsk in the summer of 1941.
Almost simultaneously with the 312th, another division formed in Almaty, Kazakhstan, the 316th, which was commanded from the first day by Major General I.V. Panfilov, received its baptism of fire in the same northwestern direction.
The enemy delivered its main blow on the northwestern approaches to the capital in the defense zone of the 316th Division, which had been holding the front line since October 25. All personnel heroically repelled the onslaught of enemy tank units. Having honorably completed the task assigned to them, Panfilov’s men, by order of the Supreme High Command, occupied the 30-kilometer sector allocated to them in the defense of Moscow.
The most famous of the division's soldiers were 28 people (“Panfilov heroes”, “28 Panfilov heroes”) from among the personnel of the 4th company of the 2nd battalion of the 1075th rifle regiment. On November 16, 1941, soldiers from Panfilov’s division at the Dubosekovo crossing stopped the advance of several dozen German tanks at the cost of their lives, with virtually no artillery support. The episode became known thanks to two articles in “Red Star”: “The Testament of 28 Fallen Heroes” dated November 28, 1941, “About 28 Fallen Heroes” dated January 22, 1942, author - A. Krivitsky.
According to the widely spread version of the event in the USSR, on November 16, when a new German offensive on Moscow began, soldiers of the 4th company, led by political instructor Vasily Klochkov, while defending in the area of the Dubosekovo crossing, 7 km southeast of Volokolamsk, accomplished a feat during a 4-hour battle, destroying 18 enemy tanks. In an unequal battle with fifty enemy tanks, they emerged victorious and did not allow the Nazis to enter Moscow. The phrase “Russia is great, but there is nowhere to retreat - Moscow is behind us!”, which, according to Red Star journalists, was said by political instructor Klochkov before his death, was included in Soviet school and university history textbooks. All 28 soldiers died. By Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, 28 participants in this historical battle were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. The feat of Panfilov’s soldiers, among whom were Kazakhs, Russians and Kyrgyz, became a striking example of the mass heroism of Soviet soldiers; the defenders of the Motherland learned from their example how to be courageous."
Uz kratko po vojne zacali zapadni spisovatelia pisat prozu o druhej svetovej vojne, takisto mnohi generali a vysoki dostojnici (aj nemecki) zacali vydavat svoje pamate, kde opisovali udalosti so svojho uhla pohladu.
Sovietska proza zaostala v tejte teme o niekolko rokov a prenechala tak iniciativu druhym.
